Kate O’Brien

General Counsel

As General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of MPOWERHealth, Kate O’Brien leads the organization’s legal function and serves as a strategic advisor to the leadership team on the regulatory, contractual and risk matters that support the company’s continued growth. She is the first person to serve in this role in MPOWERHealth’s history, a milestone that reflects the company’s growth and its deepening commitment to the patients, physicians and partners it serves.

Kate joined MPOWERHealth in 2026 and partners with teams across the business on payor and facility contracting, M&A, regulatory compliance and enterprise and technology risk, bringing a unique combination of legal expertise, commercial acumen and healthcare industry knowledge to the company as it scales its multi-state operations.

With more than 30 years of experience spanning healthcare, data and technology, Kate has built a career focused on resolving complex legal and regulatory challenges, driving commercial growth and scaling data-driven businesses. She brings broad legal and business experience across privacy, cybersecurity, M&A, commercial contracting and organizational transformation. She served as Chief Legal Officer and Head of Human Resources at Capta Health Partners and as Division General Counsel at TransUnion Healthcare, where she was part of the executive team behind the company’s $1.7 billion divestiture to nThrive, Inc.

Kate is a proud alumna of The Pennsylvania State University, where she earned her Juris Doctorate, and the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she graduated with honors earning dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science.

A long time Chicago-area resident, Kate lives with her husband in the suburbs and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She is also the proud mother of twins, both of whom are currently attending college.
