What is IONM?

Intraoperative Neuromonitoring is a critical field in healthcare, focused on protecting patients’ neural integrity during high-risk surgeries. A career in IONM places you at the forefront of patient care, ensuring the best possible surgical outcomes through real-time neurophysiological assessments.

IONM technologists work as an advocate for patient safety. During head, neck, and spine procedures which pose a high risk to neuronal structures, an IONM technologist collects an accurate assessment of the patient’s neurological function, and monitors any changes throughout the procedure. By running numerous modalities and continuously monitoring neurodiagnostic data, an IONM technologist can quickly intervene and alert a surgeon to critical changes intraoperatively.

A Program Designed with Patients in Mind

The MPOWERHealth CNIM Academy was created to address a critical need in surgical care: consistent, high-quality neuromonitoring provided by well-trained, board certified, professionals. Our program emphasizes both technical proficiency and clinical judgement, ensuring graduates are prepared to be a meaningful contribution to surgical teams.

Why Choose the MPOWERHealth CNIM Academy for your Board Prep and Clinical Training?

  • MPOWERHealth is the only company with an in-house program accredited through The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Students have access to an extensive library of modern research in neuromonitoring
  • Hands-on clinical experience rather than simulated training
  • Intensive board exam preparation
  • Graduates have a historical 94% pass rate on their first attempt at the CNIM exam, far exceeding the national average of 70%

Graduates leave the program with more than technical skills; They gain an understanding of how their role supports patient outcomes, surgical efficiency, and value-based healthcare.
